Hurlstone Park studio $300 credit towards framed artwork, prints or albums. Total value: $495

Applying is completely free. If your dog is chosen, a $50 booking fee

secures your session date and it’s fully credited towards your artwork, so it’s simply part of your $300.

Why the studio makes the difference

It feels like a comfy lounge room. No unpredictable weather . No strangers walking past or watching your shoot.

Your session happens in my relaxed, climate- controlled private studio a calm, contained space where nervous, reactive, senior or slow-moving dogs can actually settle in and be themselves, without the world rushing past them.

It’s just you, your dog, and me, for as long as it takes.

Why I do this

Some dogs wait a little longer for their moment in the spotlight. The old ones. The rescues. The ones who’ve been through more than their share. The ones whose people have been meaning to book “one day” for years. It's a little nudge to book it.

I started Dog of the Month because every dog — no matter their age,

breed, story or scars — deserves to be seen the way their family sees them. Loved beyond reason.

Are there any extra costs?

Included in your experience is your photography session and $300 towards bringing your images to life — whether that's a piece of wall art, an album, or digital files to keep forever. We'll go through it all together at your online viewing and ordering appointment.

Hi - I'm Cristal

People have often asked me how I became a dog photographer - well, I love photography, and I love dogs. It made sense to combine those two things.

I created Love Tails because I know from personal experience just how deep that love goes, how your dog is the most perfect thing in your life and how quickly the grey hairs appear around that muzzle. We must make the most of the time we have with them and cherish it.

My mission is to help every one who loves a dog, have beautiful, lasting artwork - not just fading memories and digital files lost on old phones and computers.

How to apply

3 simple steps

1. Tell me about your dog. A few sentences, so it takes about 2 minutes.

2. I choose this month’s Dog(s) of the month. Selected dogs are notified directly once applications close.

3. You book your session. Secure your date with the $50 fee (credited to your artwork) and I’ll take care of the rest.

If you aren't selected this time, you’re welcome to apply again next month your breed comes up, when the theme changes, or book a standard session any time.

YOUR EXPERIENCE/FAQ

If you have been selected we will have a chat on the phone to plan your shoot based on your dogs temperament, and I'll answer any questions and help you get ready.

Where are sessions held?
Your studio shoot is in the pretty Love Tails studio in the quaint suburb of Hurlstone Park (Inner West Sydney). 10 minutes from Marrickville, with free, easy parking.

My dog is reactive/won't sit still/anxious/senior or easily overwhelmed — is that a problem?

Not at all. I regularly photograph anxious, reactive and senior dogs, and take things as slowly as they need — my private studio helps a lot with this.
How soon does the session need to happen?
Sessions are generally booked within [30/60] days of being selected — I’ll work around your schedule.

Will I receive all my digital files?
Your complimentary session doesn't include all digital files, but your $300 credit can go towards a digital package if that's what you'd love. I do gently encourage printed pieces though, a piece of wall art or an album tends to be treasured for years, in a way a file sitting on a hard drive rarely is. We'll find what suits you best at your viewing and ordering appointment.
