A tribute to Milo.

Nikki and Stephen came all the way to Love Tails from Yarrawonga for their shoot with their 3 big dogs, a sweet Maremma named Jack they just adopted, a silly Labrador X retriever called Ollie and Great Dane X Bull Arab called Milo. Milo was undergoing treatment for cancer.

Milo came to live with Stephen and Nikki after they lost their oldest dog to cancer. "He was to buddy up with another dog who had severe separation anxiety." Who doesn't love getting a dog for a dog?

Stephen and Nikki, met Milo at the pound at 4 weeks old and visited every day for their anxious dog to get use to him. Nikki describes him then as being a 'little potato', he would grow up be a big strapping dog, a goof ball and also a protector.

Milo was an absolute angel. Stephen says "Nikki was very unwell and using a wheelchair and mobility aides for 6 years and Milo quickly learnt to adapt to be around her chair and aides. He grew into a big (50kg) dog who thought he is was a lap-dog. He loved to be little spoon overnight for Nik. He would lay across her lap for cuddles after dinner. They have had special bond." On Nikki's bed-days, Milo was over the moon to have a bed day and hang with his person and make her feel a little better.

After our shoot Nikki said to me, "I wish you could have met him when he was at his best, biggest goofball you ever met. He would go mental for the hose and chasing water... but loathed wet feet or having to swim. lol. But I am so happy you got to meet him and spend those hours with us, helping us process and grieve. I can’t put words to what you have done for us."

Milo leaves a giant dog shaped hole in Stephen and Nikki's heart and will always be remembered and cherished as a perfect angel.

Milo, you were, and always will be loved.
